Mexico Mission Trip - May 2008

We had the great pleasure of taking our boys on their very first mission trip!!! We believe that kids are never too young to serve the Lord! As our boys grow up, we want missions to simply be a part of their life experience; something that our family just does!

And boy! Landen sure was gung-ho! He started off with the hammer, hammering his first nails. But mostly he painted. He was such a hard worker! He hardly even stopped to take a break! He was hot, sweaty and completely filthy by the end of the day! And so was Logan, although I'm not sure how much work he did. Actually, I take that back, his work was smiling his beautiful smile to everyone and giving them that boost that they needed!

At the end of the day, our team had built two houses for two different Mexican families. They were tiny little houses; just one room and not even a bathroom and yet the families were so grateful! It was an incredible experience for our family to be a part of! It was also great to have Nick's parents, Graham and Gill join us! It was the end of their visit to us and it was a blessing to see them jump right in! Thanks, Dad and Mum! And thanks, LBC for allowing us to be a part of this great trip!

One step closer!

Most of you know that we have started the process to adopt our third child, a baby girl! We have been working on it for several months now and just have to complete our profile and get our initial payment ready. Yeah! We are excited to see how God will continue to lead us each step of the journey to our precious little one.

To help with the funds that we need, we are going to hand out baby bottles with a note about our adoption to any of our friends and family who would like to help us. This will be used like a piggy bank for loose change. Every penny counts, as the saying goes!

It is wonderful to think and pray for our little girl and especially her birthmom and birthdad at this time. May God be with them and may His grace overflow to them! We love you, baby girl, wherever you are!

Landen's 5th Birthday Party w/ Jared Carr

Monday we celebrated our Landen's 5th birthday w/ his buddy Jared at Pump it Up! It's one of those places that has a bunch of inflatables for kids to jump on and slide down! It sure was lots of fun! Us adults enjoyed it too! Logan really had a blast as well! Jared is a great friend, so it was fun to share the party with him!

It is amazing to think that our Landen is 5 and will be starting kindergarten! He is growing up so nicely! The night before the party, we had a particularly important moment! Landen told us that he wanted Jesus to walk beside him and help him live his life. His terminology was cute; he said that he wanted Jesus to come out of his heart and be beside him. I think that the thought of Jesus literally inside him is a bit much for him at this point in time. But the point is that he gets it! He wants Jesus in his life! Nick and I sat on his bed with him in awe of God's working power in our precious boys life! He prayed a sweet prayer and I have seen a change in him ever since! This morning he did his chores of unloading the dishwasher and getting ready for the day without the normal struggle that has been the pattern. Then he made up this darling song - "I like to do what's right! I listen to my mommy and daddy! I do what they say! I do what is right!" It was absolutely precious! Made my heart sing right along with him!

Thank God for summer. Finally I am getting over my illness from something I caught on our mission trip to Mexico. It's been 6 weeks and so it is so nice to be feeling better. Still not quite sure what I've had, but am happy to be getting the answers and help that I've needed.

Landen just finished VBS on Outrigger Island, which he absolutely loved. His favorite parts where when they threw around the huge beach balls, the songs and doing the actions, and when Mommy, Daddy and Logan came to visit. He has also been doing swim lessons at his school and is getting braver and braver; putting his face all the way under.

Logan is talking more and more! He still uses his baby sign, but now it's with the words. He is as cute as ever and loves to follow his big brother everywhere.

Nick is teaching summer school and planning our summer holiday and being my hero keeping our household together while Mommy has been ill.

Logan Lewis Corban was born on November 7, 2006 at 10:56pm. What a blessing! He is truly a gift from God to his mom, Kathi; his dad, Nick; and his brother Landen Nicholas Jacob. He is a treasure to his birthmom Holly, and his birthdad Nick. Weighing 8LB 1oz and measuring 22 inches, Logan begins a life of service to our Lord. It is exciting to see where God will take him and how he will bring glory to His heavenly Father. This website is intended to share a small part of that journey through writing and pictures.

Landen Nicholas Jacob was given to us as a gift from above on July 6, 2003. His birthmom, Rachel, has selflessly given us the privilege of raising Landen in a way that honors her, by hononring God. His story and journey towards a life of service and obedience to God are also told through pictures and writing on this blog.
